So you want to know a bit more about the JACK radio brand in the UK?

Twentieth Century Fox home entertainment partners with JACK Radio Group to mark the home entertainment release of Bohemian Rhapsody

6 March 2019, Oxford: Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has turned to JACK Radio Group to celebrate this week’s Blu-ray™ and DVD release of Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the story of the legendary rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their performance at Live Aid in 1985. The radio group has created a unique ‘Queen takeover’ campaign, which will run across its two national and three regional radio stations, promoting the home entertainment release which includes the complete ‘Live Aid’ film performance not seen in cinemas!

National radio station Union JACK, recently confirmed to be the fastest growing commercial radio station in the UK and which plays exclusively British music and comedy, airs more Queen songs than any other radio station, making it the perfect fit for this campaign. Every song played on Union JACK is voted for by the station’s audience via an app which offers the most extensive playlist ever in UK radio – which means that Union JACK’s listeners are the ones who are opting to hear Queen songs on a frequent basis.

For the purpose of this campaign, Union JACK will be using this unique listener voting technology to facilitate an hourly Queen song vote on the day of release (Monday 4 March 2019), when two iconic Queen songs will go head-to-head, with Union JACK listeners voting for their favourite which will then be broadcast.

A week-long campaign will also run across all stations in the JACK Radio Group – which incorporates national stations Union JACK and JACK Radio, and Oxfordshire stations JACKfm, JACK 2 Hits and JACK 3 Chill – with listeners being encouraged to go online to vote for their favourite ever Queen song for the opportunity to win a state-of-the-art Bose TV Sound System plus a copy of the film.

Katherine Hutcheson, Commercial Content Director at JACK Radio Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to support the home entertainment release of this iconic, award winning film, Bohemian Rhapsody. Encouraging listeners across the JACK Radio Group, many of whom are Queen fans, to listen to their favourite Queen songs and reminding them how many iconic Queen songs have been produced is a truly immersive way to showcase the film and to create interest in the DVD launch.”

Rosalee Todd, Marketing PR & Partnerships Manager at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment said: “Bohemian Rhapsody is a celebration of Queen and the legend Freddie Mercury, it is such a feel good film that brings people together from all generations. It was important for us to choose an appropriate partner that reminded people of their love of Queen music and which would bring people together to help us to celebrate the home entertainment release.

The demographic across JACK’s portfolio of radio stations and the voting technology already employed on Union JACK, coupled with the fact that it also plays more Queen songs than any other radio station, offered us an unrivalled opportunity to create something special that will genuinely excite and engage listeners.”

Bohemian Rhapsody is available on Digital Download now and on Blu-ray™ & DVD from 4th March and includes the complete ‘Live Aid’ film performance not seen in cinemas!

Union JACK is available across the UK on digital radio, online at unionjack.co.uk and via the Union JACK app.
