JACK Radio appoints station’s first programme director
7 January 2019, Oxford: New national digital radio station JACK Radio can today announce the appointment of experienced radio aficionado Belinda Doyle, who becomes the station’s first ever Programme Director.
The launch of JACK Radio was announced late last year and made headlines with its world-first-broadcast radio format, which sees the station playing 100% female artists and providing a platform for women in music – from the female stars of the past to today’s main artists, along with new and emerging female talent; including its ‘Cover Girl’ songs, which will see a range of well-known tracks covered by a wide range of female artists.
Belinda brings with her more than 30 years of industry experience, gained predominantly across Australian radio and including roles establishing the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s national Newsradio network (the first 24-hour news radio station in Australia), co-hosting the 96FM Breakfast Show in Perth, and as Creative Director Sydney for Macquarie Media. She has also held many other music programming and presenting roles, predominantly in her native Australia, but also within the UK.
Speaking of her appointment, Belinda said: “To be given the responsibility for the programming of a station as groundbreaking as JACK Radio is a dream come true and I’m so excited to join the dynamic team behind it all. We’ve got so many compelling content plans for the future and we can’t wait to bring them all to life for our listeners.”
Ian Walker, co-CEO of JACK Radio, said: “Belinda brings just the right mix of experience, creativity and passion to JACK Radio, and we’re thrilled to have her join our team. Under Belinda’s leadership, we’ve no doubt that JACK Radio is going to continue to evolve into something that is really special and truly unique.”
JACK Radio sits alongside its more established sibling, Union JACK; a national digital radio station which celebrates the best of British music and comedy. Both stations are the brainchild of the team who created Absolute Radio and who are behind the highly successful and multi-award-winning JACK fm – the most awarded local radio brand in UK radio history – JACK 2 Hits and JACK 3 Chill.
JACK Radio will feature a wide range of women in music, from Adele, Kylie and Beyonce, to Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Blondie, all of which will be seamlessly brought together with witty interjection and, eventually, engaging and intelligent programming. Subsequent high-profile appointments are also expected to be announced in due course.
JACK Radio is available across the UK on digital radio (DAB+), online at JACKRadio.com,
through RadioPlayer and via the JACK Radio app.
