Ed Miliband turns the tables on Geoff Lloyd

Former Labour Leader Ed Miliband interviews his broadcasting colleague Geoff Lloyd in the series finale of Geoff Lloyd’s Hometown Glory

8 July 2019, Oxford: The former Labour Leader Ed Miliband has interviewed Geoff Lloyd with some hilarious consequences in the series three finale of Geoff Lloyd’s Hometown Glory; a comedic series that can be heard exclusively on national radio station Union JACK. The show will be broadcast on Union JACK radio at 11am on Saturday 13 July, and will then be available as a podcast immediately after.

Geoff Lloyd’s Hometown Glory, now in its third series, sees multi-award-winning broadcaster Lloyd interview some of the UK’s top comedic talent and famous faces. Using Google Maps, Geoff takes guests on a trip down memory lane, often with hilarious memories and nostalgic anecdotes. However, in the series three finale this Saturday, Ed Miliband turns the tables and steps into Lloyd’s shoes, with Lloyd himself becoming the interview subject at Miliband’s mercy.

Miliband is no stranger to both the world of broadcasting and to Lloyd himself, with the duo already making headlines with their hit podcast, Reasons to be Cheerful, which they host together and which was recently nominated for a Broadcasting Press Guild Award. The camaraderie is clear from the resulting interview, which sees Miliband likening his radio takeover to a military coup, singing lines from the famous Buggles’ hit Video Killed the Radio Star, and quizzing Lloyd about the fact that his mum was still doing his laundry for him at the age of 27.

Giles Gear, Programme Manager at Union JACK radio, said: “Hometown Glory has seen some of the country’s finest comedians and quirkier famous faces interviewed on Union JACK with hilarious consequences; however, this series finale is something else! Ed clearly relishes the opportunity to put Geoff on the spot and to get his own back and this makes it a must-listen show. It sets the tone for some exciting plans that are already in the mix for series four.”

Geoff Lloyd’s Hometown Glory launched on Union JACK radio in March 2018, with three series broadcast to date (series three is currently on air now). The series has featured interviews with a range of talent, including 80’s star Paul Young, footballer Peter Shilton, The Chase’s Anne Hegerty and Love Actually star Marcus Brigstocke.

Union JACK is available across the UK on digital radio, online at unionjack.co.uk and via the Union JACK app.
